The Quinte region real estate market finished off 2020 with a bang.
It was a record setting December as the Quinte and District Association of Realtors reports 211 units were sold in December, an increase of 37.9% over the same month in 2019.
Last month’s figure set a new sales record for the month and was the first time on record that sales surpassed the 200 mark in any December.
The average price of a home sold in December 2020 was just over $546,000, a gain of 52.6% over the same month the previous year.
It is the first time the average price of a home in the region broke the $500,000 mark.
The more comprehensive annual average price was $453,754 rising 23% from all of 2019.
There were 3,975 homes sold over the course of 2020, up 13.9% over 2019.
And it appears the market will remain hot as we begin 2021.
Association President Don McColl says new listings have not been able to keep pace with the number of sales in five of the last six months and has reduced the number of active listings to a level not seen in over three decades.
