Canadian Forces Base Trenton was a busy place in 2020. Canada’s largest air force site not only had to deal with the challenges of being the transport hub for the military, it had to also focus on the challenges of the COVID pandemic.
As we look forward to the year ahead, the pandemic will be front and centre, along with supporting missions, and its members.
Below is a written submission from Commander Colonel Ryan Deming when asked about the focus for 2021:
Our focus will remain the same as it always has been, enabling our personnel with the tools to accomplish our broad mission set, the health and well-being of our personnel and our communities, and ensuring we generate the DND/CAF leaders of the future.
We will also continue to support our local communities and businesses, as we know how vital this relationship in encouraging everyone to deliver their best and look after one another.
In 2021, first and foremost, we will continue to establish best practices and procedures that will endure under chaotic and uncertain times.
This includes implementing protocols that will further enhance our efficiencies during and post vaccination period.
While we can see the light at the end of the tunnel, it remains imperative that the collective we adhere to all Public Health guidance, Provincial and Territorial restrictions and recommendations to limit the spread of COVID-19.
As members of 8 Wing/CFB Trenton, we understand the each decision we make or option we choose has an impact on those around us.
With the announcement of Op VECTOR, to support the Government of Canada in the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines, 8 Wing/CFB Trenton remains ready to respond to any and all requests from the Government of Canada.
As CFB Trenton was founded in 1931, 2021 will mark our 90th anniversary of serving Canadians and being an integral part of our local communities.
With the theme of “Together Since 1931” we will be highlighting the evolution of 8 Wing/CFB Trenton, the importance of the Wing and Base in serving Canadians and our local communities.
While the specifics of the celebration isn’t entirely known, rest assured that our local communities remain an integral part of our history, our present and our future.
We are honoured to call the region of Hastings Prince Edward our home and privileged to have great support from our communities and proud to serve all our fellow Canadians.
