The Quinte Humane Society has received a significant donation towards the building of a new animal shelter.
Ninety-one-year-old Ilse Huszka passed away last January and left the QHS a gift of $244,383.47 to go towards the new shelter project.
Because of her donation, Huska will become a patron of the Pat Culhane Legacy Circle, which was set up to celebrate the late Belleville councillor’s contributions to the Humane Society.
A QHS press release says since 2015, the organization has been given 24 bequest gifts ranging from $500 to $1 million, which will all help towards the move out of their current “dilapidated, overcrowded and unworkable shelter.”
