The provincial government is putting $1 billion on the table for broadband and cellular access.
Infrastructure Minister Laurie Scott spoke on Wednesday during the daily Ford COVID-19 update, explaining now $680 million will be available for shovel ready projects.
Ontario has partnered with the Eastern Ontario Regional Network (EORN) to invest $71 million in a $213 million project to improve access to cellular service and mobile broadband in Eastern Ontario.
No timelines, specific projects or infrastructure were mentioned by Scott but she did say everything was on the table when it comes to solving infrastructure gaps.
The funding announced is on top of the $315 million to support the Up to Speed: Ontario’s Broadband and Cellular Action Plan.
