The Quinte Humane Society’s new Executive Director officially starts Monday.
Marilyn Lawrie tells Quinte News that more community consultation and information is vital.
“Communications. Communications out to the public. We are on all the social media and we certainly have a good website. I would like to think we can build on what has been done in the past and just get the communications out there more.”
That is not her main priority however.
“For the building of a new facility. The current facility that we have been in since the early 70s, is just falling down around us The septic system is bad, the water pressure. The building is on its last legs.”
From 2012 to 2016, Lawrie was the Executive Director of the Quinte Ballet School of Canada, and most recently was the General Manager for the Stirling Festival Theatre.
She has also held senior positions with Quinte Arts Council, Quinte Symphony, and the Belleville Business Improvement Area.
She takes over the position with QHS from Frank Rockett.
