A former Wellington Dukes’ defenceman has been drafted to the National Hockey League.
Belleville native Zach Uens was selected in the fourth round, 105th overall, to the Florida Panthers on Wednesday.
The 19 year-old had 18 points in 34 games in his rookie campaign with Merrimack College of the NCAA this past season and previously suited up in 88 games over a two year stint with Wellington, notching 11 goals and 29 assists.
He was part of the Dukes’ Dudley Hewitt Cup winning team in 2017/18 and was twice named to OJHL all-prospect teams.
