A young man hoping to become a career police officer was honoured for his commitment serving as a volunteer auxiliary member of the Quinte West OPP Monday afternoon.
Auxiliary Sergeant Brandon Miller received the Auxiliary Member of the Year award at a meeting of the Quinte West Police Services Board.
Sergeant Miller is the senior member in the auxiliary unit.
OPP auxiliary members are uniformed but are not armed and assist regular officers at community events, in emergency situations, and on regular patrol. They also volunteer in community policing initiatives.
