The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Prince Edward County Detachment marine unit conducted patrols on Wellers Bay and East Lake over the weekend.
Officers conducted a number of vessel checks resulting in several warnings to operators who were without required safety equipment. One operator was charged with an insufficient number of life jackets. One operator was charged with having open liquor on board.
The Prince Edward County Detachment would like to remind boaters to conduct a safety equipment check before leaving the dock. Everyone is urged to take action and reduce the risks on the water.
