Residents and visitors to Prince Edward County can safely enjoy even more outdoor recreation spaces as the Province of Ontario allows Stage 2 reopening across the region starting on Friday, June 12.
Groups of 10 people or fewer are allowed to congregate on Wellington Beach. Groups must maintain a physical distance of 2 metres/6 feet from other groups at all times. County by-law officers will be monitoring the beach to ensure the public respects the physical distancing requirements.
Beach Street and the parking area will reopen on June 12. Parking restrictions are posted along the street and they will be enforced.
At the direction of Council on May 28, the boat launch at the end of Beach Street in Wellington will be reserved solely for launching non-motorized watercraft during the 2020 boating season. Boaters with motorized watercraft can launch at the Belleville Street location in Wellington or any of the other boat launches in the County.
In Picton, people can cool off in the splash pad located at the Fairgrounds (375 Picton Main Street).
Sandbanks Provincial Park update
The Dunes Beach and Outlet Beach at Sandbanks Provincial Park will open as of Friday, June 12.
Starting June 22, Ontario Parks will gradually open campgrounds and more facilities and services including providing washrooms, drinking water, and opening trailer sanitation stations.
Facilities such as showers, laundry, group camping, and picnic shelter rentals will remain closed for the season at all provincial parks.
