Belleville residents looking for something new to read during the COVID-19 shutdown will soon have a chance to pick up a library book.
Belleville Public Library has been closed since the shutdown began more than two months ago.
Now the province has given the green light, allowing libraries to use the same pick-up system employed by restaurants.
Library Chair Councillor Paul Carr tells Quinte News patrons will be able to order materials.
Carr says the materials/books will probably be put in paper bags for the pickup.
Carr says there is a lot of material out in the public that needs to be returned by the library patrons.
The returned material will be quarantined before going back on the shelves.
Carr says fines will not be charged on these returns.
The start-up date for the new system will be announced once the library internal quarantine process is also in place.
This will include plexiglass guards at the check-out desks.
