The City of Quinte West’s website will be getting an overhaul, but proposed changes to branding won’t be happening, after a pair of recorded votes on Tuesday night.
A staff report presented to councillors noted some inefficiencies in the city’s current website and suggested revamping and improving that, while also taking a look at a rebrand of the city logo and slogan at the same time.
While most councillors agreed with the need to improve the website, more than half of them including Councillor Leslie Roseblade felt that there was no need to make any changes to the city’s brand.
Councillor Terry Cassidy and others felt the door should be left open for staff to at least take a look at the rebrand strategy.
The original motion to look at both the website and rebrand was defeated 7-6 and the second motion, suggesting redoing the website only, passed 7-6.
There was no motion to look at the rebranding strategy individually.
Council has set a $150,000 spending limit for the website redevelopment project.
