The Belleville and Quinte West Community Health Centre (BQWCHC) is doing its part to make sure no one is left behind.
The organization has been delivering wellness boxes as part of their Wellness Matters initiative in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Manager of Community Health Programs and Engagement Krista Vandermeer says they have been reaching out to hundreds of community members including seniors, parents and many of the most vulnerable residents and discovered three main concerns; food security, lack of information and a general sense of loneliness.
In response, Health Centre staff, who have already been making daily doorstep deliveries of essential items added “wellness boxes” to their deliveries.
The boxes are geared toward families or older adults. The boxes include a variety of items such as healthy snacks, craft supplies, puzzles or books, information about services available in the community, and a personalized note.
“Wellness boxes are our special way to bring a little brightness to folks during this crisis and to let our community members know that we’re all in this together” said Vandermeer.
