The Warden of Hastings County and its Chief Administrative Officer have formally asked Conservative Party leader Andrew Scheer to expel local MP Derek Sloan from his caucus.
According to a story in The Intelligencer, a letter signed by Warden Rick Phillips and CAO Jim Pine was mailed to Scheer yesterday (Thursday).
The letter referred to social media comments made by Hastings-Lennox and Addington MP Sloan suggesting Dr. Theresa Tam, Canada’s Chief Public Health Officer, be removed from her job.
In the letter Phillips and Pine called the comments cruel, racist and unbecoming of a Member of Parliament.
The letter goes on to praise Dr. Tam for her skill and tireless efforts on behalf of Canadians.
The letter finishes by asking Scheer to show that Sloan’s racist comments are not representative of the Conservative Party of Canada’s views.
