The Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment changed commanders Thursday night at the Belleville Armouries.
Current Lieutenant Colonel Roy van den Berg took over from Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Comeau in a formal Change of Command Parade.
Comeau enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1987, was transferred to the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment in 2015 and took over as LCol. in March of 2016.
Four years later LCol. van den Berg, who also enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1987, and joined the Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment in 2017 is in as acting LCol.
Comeau says it’s an honour to hand over his position to someone he’s served with.
He adds that his regiment accomplished some great things in his tenure.
On the other hand LCol. van den Berg says it’s an honour and a privilege to fill Comeau’s shoes.
The Hastings and Prince Edward Regiment is an Army Reserve Infantry Regiment that falls under 33 Brigade. The regiment’s headquarters reside at the Belleville Armouries.
