The Ontario Ski Racing season is at the midway point with competitors from the Batawa Racing team on the slopes across Southern Ontario.
The U19 team was in Collingwood at Craigleith Ski Club for a gruelling 3-day training and competition in Ski Cross for all SOD racers.
The team trained for two and a half days and then Sunday afternoon the 4-person wide race began.

Batawa racers took half of the top spots. Women’s open class had Reena Lui with gold and Chloe O’Boyle Kelly with silver. Annissa Bray, Hannah O’Boyle Kelly and Emma Sabine-Craig also had great runs.

In the men’s open class, Isaac Hollinger was second and Padraigh Brady was 4th. All participants earned points and will be able to participate in the Ontario Winter Games held at Mount St. Louis/Moonstone at the end of February.
On Saturday the U16 Batawa Ski Racing team was split up for a mid-season
Racefest where they competed against all of the Southern Ontario division
teams.
The girls travelled to Barrie to compete at Heights of Horseshoe and
the boys travelled to Huntsville to Hidden Valley.

In the Women’s Slalom,
Batawa placed 4 racers in the top 25 with Haleigh MacPherson leading the
way with a strong 8th place finish followed by great runs by Anna Schmoll,
Molly Henderson, Holly Liu and Ileana De Luca.
In the Women’s Giant Slalom, Anna Schmoll turned in a very fast time and was 11th followed by Molly Henderson.
For the Batawa men’s team, Jonah Hope finished with a fast 16th place finish in the Giant Slalom.
Haleigh MacPherson competing in Slalom at Heights of Horseshoe placed 8th.
It was also another great weekend on the slopes on Sunday for Batawa’s Under 12 racers at Brimacombe Ski Club.
The U12 females secured 3 top 10 spots with Rachel Brady in 4th, Julia Isbester in 6th and Maya Bianchi coming in 10th.
The top boys were Linden Forrest, Keith Bentley and Tristan Himberg-Larsen placing in the top 30 out of 65 competitors.
