On the ice, the Golden Hawks came out flying.
Wyatt George scored the games opening goal under 10 minutes into the contest. After the Royals tied the game moments later, it was George again snagging the lead back for Trenton.
In the second period, Colin Van Den Hurk scored Trenton’s loan goal.
Moments into the third period, Markham cut the Hawks lead down to 3-2. At the midway point of the period Trenton went to the power-play. Sam Duchesne stepped into a one-time shot from the blue line to regain the Hawks two goal lead.
With the goal, Duchesne set the all-time record in points for a Golden Hawk defensemen. Duchesne finished the night with three points, bringing his total to 55 with three games left on the schedule.
The G-Hawks had no issues the rest of the way.
Adam Kim and Cameron Gaylor jumped in on the score sheet late in the game while George found the empty net to record the hat trick.
Anand Oberoi was in between the pipes for Trenton in the win.
With the win, Trenton took over top spot in the entire OJHL and holds a one point lead over Wellington in the east division standings.
Trenton is back in action on Friday, Feb. 14, taking on the Whitby Fury.
