Belleville is providing grants to assist in the improvement of three business locations in the downtown centre.
The grants come from the city’s Facade Improvement Program.
The program had a total of $85,000 to spend this year, plus an additional $75,000 transferred from the facade reserve fund.
A little over 55,414.15 was available when the three recent requests came to council.
At a recent meeting, City council approved each of the requests.
The downtown businesses were granted 15,000 dollars each.
The money will go to L’Auberge de France, Barratt’s Office Pro, and a location at 233 Front Street, to pay a percentage of the work being done at the front of the buildings.
Facade Committee Chair Councillor Garnet Thompson tells Quinte News, “It’s an extremely good program with seven or eight projects this year.”
The program is aimed at city centre revitalization, to counter urban decay and improve the image of the city.
