On Wednesday October 23, 2019, at approximately 11:40 a.m.members of the Prince Edward County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment and the East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed a search warrant at a residence on Parkview Road in Ameliasburgh ward.
This was part of an ongoing investigation into several thefts in the area.
Officers seized of a quantity of methamphetamine, cannabis, a sawed-off shotgun, airsoft guns, copper wire and an assortment of tools.
OPP have charged Kristoffer GARDINER, age 29 under the Criminal Code (CC) and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) with:
- Possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine) – CDSA sec. 5(2)
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 – CC Sec 354(1)(a)
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm – CC sec. 91(1)
- Fail to comply with recognizance – CC Sec. 145(3) – five counts
The accused was held for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on October 24, 2019.
Matthew GARDINER, age 25 is charged with:
- Possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine) – CDSA sec. 5(2)
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 – CC Sec 354(1)(a)
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm – CC sec. 91( 1)
The accused was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on December 18, 2019.
Johnathan HARFORD, age 25 is charged with:
- Possession of a schedule one substance for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine) – CDSA sec. 5(2)
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 – CC 354(1)(a)
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm – CC 91(1)
- Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition – CC 117.01(1) – four counts
The accused was held for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on October 24, 2019.
All three of the accused are residents of Prince Edward County.
