Listeners to CJBQ’s Lorne Brooker Show had a chance to meet Bay of Quinte riding’s Conservative candidate Tim Durkin Wednesday morning.
Durkin is married with a 15-month-old daughter, was born and raised in Tyendinaga Township, educated at Loyalist College and has worked as an on-air host and in the newsroom of Quinte Broadcasting for the past several years.
Brooker asked him why he decided to try for a role as Member of Parliament.
Later, Durkin was asked about an op-ed piece in the Intelligencer in 2013 when he suggested that revealing clothing could lead to more instances of sexual assault against women.
The article was in reference to the “Slutwalk”, an event organized to bring awareness to the issue of assault against women.
Durkin said he made a mistake and has since changed his thinking.
