There was a championship parade through the streets of downtown Trenton on Monday.
The Peewee U13 Quinte Royals celebrated their Ontario Baseball Association championship with the help of the Quinte West Fire Department, as the team rode from their home field at Don Ogden Park to City Hall, where they were honoured by Mayor Jim Harrison and council.
The same group had qualified for the 2018 provincial in London but came home unsuccessful and were able to reverse their fortunes just a year later.
The McGuinness Water Solutions Royals are the first team from the organization to win a provincial title and did so at home, winning the OBA tournament in Quinte West over the Labour Day Weekend
The Royals posted a 17-5 record through the regular season, en route to the provincial title.
Councillor Leslie Roseblade told Monday night’s council meeting there is a plan to induct the team into the Quinte West Sports Wall of Fame next year.
