The owner of a local roofing company has been charged with fraud again.
Yesterday (Sunday) Belleville city police charged Steven Bell, whose company is known as Steve Bell Roofing, after alleging he took money up front for a job but never completed the work even though given several months to do it.
The 60-year-old roofer is also facing another fraud charge laid last May and will appear in court next on August 29.
Also last May, Bell was sentenced to 7 days in jail for not ensuring a worker was wearing proper safety equipment.
In 2017 he served one day in jail and was fined $10,000, also for not providing safe work conditions.
Other charges regarding unsafe working conditions have been laid against Bell, starting in 2013 for which he was fined.
