A 35-year-old Belleville man died after a fire at an east end residence early Saturday morning.
City police report that Damon Jewett died from his injuries at Belleville General Hospital.
Belleville firefighters, police, and Hastings-Quinte paramedics responded in numbers to a fully engulfed
older two-storey brick house at 190 Dundas Street East at around 2:30 Saturday morning.
The people living in the main floor apartment escaped safely however that was not the case with the upstairs
apartment unit.
The house was gutted in the fire.
An investigation continues involving the police’s Forensic Identification Unit, the Belleville Fire Department, and
the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office.
