Picking up garbage is hard work and it seems the people who work hardest at it in Northumberland County live in Brighton.
Brighton won the title of “Hardest Working Volunteers” in this year’s Mayor’s Keep the County Clean Challenge.
Brighton volunteers picked up an average of over 30 kilograms of garbage each, in a week last April.
The Township of Alnwich/Haldimand retained its title of “Highest Proportional Representation of Volunteers”.
This year, almost 3,000 Northumberland County residents picked up over 19,000 kg of waste.
