The weather didn’t hinder the participants of the 2019 Belleville Law Enforcement Torch Run in support of Special Olympics Ontario.
In fact, participants made excellent time after leaving Quinte Mall at 9:30 a.m., arriving at Belleville City Hall in less than an hour.
Detective Constable Darrell Hatfield led the local torch run initiative and told Quinte News it’s not the first time they’ve had to run in the rain.
He adds that they still have to total donations from today’s run and the recent Cops and Cowboys event, but they’re expecting to have a fair amount to donate to more than 300 local Special Olympians.
Hatfield says last year they raised around $2,800 when both events were held on the same day.
