The Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation had a banner year in 2018-2019.
TMH Foundation set a goal of $2,600,000 for the fiscal year and was able to surpass their goal and raise $3,068,000 which was a 3% increase from last year.
The foundation held its annual general meeting Wednesday evening announcing its treasurer’s report, spending costs, bursary award winners and total revenue for the year. The QHC Trenton Memorial Hospital was able to use this year’s grants to purchase critical medical equipment and complete renovations, using $2,658,000. The revenue totalled around $1,600,000.
This year the foundation was able to grant $119,116 to twenty local organizations, six local high school students and one Loyalist College student, all in pursuit of of a post secondary education in the health care field. The organizations winning the Kay Stafford Memorial Fund Awards were: the Alzheimer Society, Batawa Lions Club, Big Brother-Big Sisters, Canadian Ski-Patrol, Community Care Northumberland, Frankford United Church, Frankford Youth Centre, Gift from the Heart, John Howard Society, Trenton Lions Club, Lower Trent Conservation, our TMH, Quinte Access, the Children’s Foundation, Quinte West Fire and Rescue, Quinte West Youth Centre, Volunteer and Information Quinte, VON Canada, Trenton YMCA and the Brain Injury Association.
The students each received $1,000 in bursaries. Taylor Smith from Bayside Secondary School, Rebecca Thickson of ENSS, Madison Royer from Marc Garneau, Frank Vreugdenhil from Quinte Christian, Olivia Garrett from St.Paul’s, Daniel Eden of Trenton High School and Carley Davis from Loyalist College were the recipients.
Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation Executive Director Wendy Warner says they are ecstatic to raise over three-million-dollars this year.
Warner also explains what the plan is for 2019-2020.
Board chair, Darrell Smith acknowledged the Investment Finance Committee volunteers for their hard work. Smith also says “The Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation inspires our community to help us achieve sustainable healthcare excellence for our community.”
