What’s called “transformative” technology could be changing life for riders on Belleville Transit buses soon.
At Monday’s meeting, city council will be asked to approve a bid from Consat Canada of $463,000 plus tax to provide all 16 transit buses with a system that will provide riders with real-time bus and route information plus allow for instant communications between Operations and the drivers.
The technology would also allow for onboard cameras and collision avoidance systems in future.
The money is available in the budget and from the provincial gas tax.
