A local figure skater can now add national champion to her resume.
Sixteen-year-old Chloe Choinard, who hails from the Stirling Figure Skating Club, along with her 21-year-old partner Mathieu Ostiguy, were first in the Junior Pairs at the Canadian Tire National Skating Championships in St. John, New Brunswick this week.
Choinard and Ostiguy scored a personal best 50 points in Tuesday’s Short Program, and the lead after day one. They did the same thing Wednesday evening, scoring 91 in the Long Program, to take the podium.
Chatting with Quinte News Thursday morning, Choinard says it is a dream come true.
