The Belleville Senators have announced the second captain in team history a day ahead of their season opener in Utica.
29 year-old defender Eric Burgdoerfer will wear the āCā, with Paul Carey, Ben Sexton and Patrick Sieloff serving as alternates.
He had served as an alternate under Kurt Kleinendorst last season.
Head Coach troy Mann says Burgdoerfer is a constant professional, plays the game the right way and is the perfect fit to lead the team this season.
The native of East Setauket, New York has played in 253 career American Hockey League games, with four teams, amassing 62 points, 222 penalty minutes and has a plus-8 rating.
He also played under Mann when both were with the Hershey Bears during the 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons
