Nurses working for the Hastings Prince Edward Health Unit could be on strike later this month.
Members of the Ontario Nurses Association held an information picket outside the Health Unit’s Belleville headquarters this morning (Wednesday) at the same time the board of directors were meeting inside.
Labour Relations Officer for the O.N.A. Angie Stott says contract negotiations haven’t been going well through the mediation phase.
The union expects a “no board report” September 8, and 17 days after that it would be in a legal strike position on September 25.
Issues are concessions in short-term disability, benefit improvements, and wages.
The 40 nurses have been without a contract since the end of last year.
