The Ontario Junior Hockey League is going to see some big changes in the coming few weeks, to not only how many times teams play one another, but in what divisions, and in what cities.
The Wellington Dukes and Trenton Golden Hawks will both stay in the East Division, but the Quinte rivals will play each other six times instead of four.
The Lindsay Muskies join the East along with Trenton, Wellington, Kingston Voyageurs, Cobourg Cougars and Whitby Fury. It will no longer be the Northeast conference, but the Southeast.
Joining this conference will be the St. Michael’s Buzzers, Toronto Patriots, Toronto Jr. Canadians, North York Rangers and Mississauga Chargers.
The Northwest conference has the other 11 teams. In the North are the Pickering Panthers, Markham Royals, Stouffville Spirit, Aurora Tigers, and Newmarket Hurricanes.
The West Division has six teams and two relocations. Remaining are the Buffalo Jr. Sabres, Oakville Blades, Burlington Cougars and Georgetown Raiders. The Orangeville Flyers are moving to Brampton, while the Milton Ice Hawks are going to Brantford.
There will also be some adjustment in the playoff seating expected as well. Final details on that have not been announced.
