Prince Edward-Hastings MPP Todd Smith is making it clear who he wants to see as the next leader of Ontario’s PC Party.
Smith is getting behind Christine Elliott and will co-chair her campaign to be the party’s next leader.
Smith tells Quinte News he’s met with both Caroline Mulroney and Doug Ford, but Elliott is the only one of the three that has the experience and is ready to be Ontario’s premier now.
Smith says Elliott has also made commitments to bettering Ontario’s health care system and to coming up with a mental health strategy for the province.
He adds it will mean a little bit of extra work for him over the next few weeks.
Members of the Ontario PC party will pick their new leader next month, ahead of this summer’s provincial election.
