Two people have been arrested in connection to suspicious fires in Napanee and Prince Edward County, one of which happened earlier this month at a strip mall on Palace Road, in Napanee.
The string of fires began in Napanee back in September of 2017 and police say during the initial investigation, “it became apparent that other fires set in Prince Edward County, were likely linked”.
Napanee OPP Constable Shannon Corke tells Quinte News investigators found connections to fires in both communities and the severity of the fires seemed to escalate.
After the January 2nd fire at the strip mall, Criminal Investigations Branch Detective Inspector Dave Robinson took over the case from the Ontario Fire Marshal and his investigation led to the arrest of two people today.
Thirty-three-year-old Robert Pickstock and 40-year-old Joseph Pickstock, both of the Greater Napanee Area, are charged with arson, break and enter and mischief under $5,000.
The younger Pickstock also faces four charges of public mischief.
Corke added that the arson charge relates to the Palace Road fire and the investigation is continuing.
Both were held for bail hearings in Napanee Court, with dates to be determined.
