Belleville’s Yardmen Arena will be front and centre Monday for city council.
Director of Recreation, Culture and Community Services Mark Fluhrer will outline to councillors the economic benefits of the renovations to the home of the Belleville Senators and the entire Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre.
In his report, Fluhrer will project economic spinoff over the next eight years (initial lease), upwards of $240 million.
Fluhrer says if the Senators extend the lease to the full 13 year option, that number could grow as high as $390 million in spinoff for the Quinte area.
A number of things need to happen to get to those numbers, including full use of the Senators’ 50 nights of booking for the arena, fully booked ice time at the QSWC and 20 percent ticket return on all seats sold over 3,500 at the Senators games.
