Dr. Rob Kamermans has lost his license to practice medicine.
In a decision released yesterday (Monday), the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario revoked Dr. Kamermans
certificate of registration, with no conditions.
In previous decisions by the college Dr. Kamermans had been disciplined for professional misconduct, but allowed to practice
medicine with restrictions and under supervision.
In the latest ruling, the College again found the Coe Hill area physician incompetent and unable to maintain the standards expected
of the profession.
Dr. Kamermans maintained that he should still be allowed to continue to practice under supervision, but the college disagreed.
The issues involve the prescribing of narcotics, including medical marijuana, problems with other medical procedures and
the keeping of patients’ records.
This latest hearing occurred in late July.
Besides his certificate of registration being revoked immediately, Dr. Kamermans was also fined for costs totalling $5,500.
Earlier this month, a criminal case involving medical marijuana prescriptions against Kamermans ended with a fine of one dollar and an order
that the doctor pay back $100,000 to the Ontario Health Insurance Plan.
