A new youth centre opening up in Belleville is aiming to be a “hub” of activity and inclusiveness and a “common place” for youth in the Quinte region.
The Belleville Youth Centre, launching next Tuesday, July 4, is providing a safe area for young people in the community to collaborate with each other during their free time.
The John Howard Society, Highland Shores Children’s Aid, Children’s Mental Health, Youth Hab and other agencies are collaborating to help open and fund the Youth Centre.
The Youth Centre’s Program Coordinator Bobby Hristova says the Belleville Youth Centre is looking to be the equivalent to the current Quinte West Youth Centre.
He explains why having a youth centre in the city of Belleville is so vital.

Hristova adds anyone aged 12-18 can be eligible to register for the Youth Centre and its programming.
The Youth Centre’s grand opening will go from 5-7 p.m. on July 4 at its location at 21 Wallbridge Crescent. There will be a ribbon cutting, a barbecue, a prize raffle and a “minute-to-win-it” event.
The Youth Centre will be open on weekdays from 1-6 p.m., except for Wednesdays, when it will be open from 2-7 p.m.
