There’s a heroic story coming out of Tweed this past weekend.
Central Hastings OPP say a team of horses, preparing for a Saturday show at the Tweed Fairgrounds, got away from its handlers and ran into an area filled with people.
Police say a 52 year-old man noticed a family standing in the path of the horses, so he ran in and moved a three year-old girl out of the way and ended up being trampled by the animals.
The man, whose name wasn’t released, was conscious and taken to Kingston General Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and released.
Investigators say the horses are local to the area and thankfully nobody else was injured.
