The City of Quinte West may offer itself, with important assistance from 8 Wing Trenton, as a site to house First Nations people from flood prone communities along James Bay’s coast. Emergency Management Ontario is asking various communities if they’d allow themselves to host emergency evacuees. The City would receive compensation from the Province. Quinte West Fire Chief John Whalen will discuss the matter further with the province, and ask military leaders at 8 Wing if they’d offer up the air cadet barracks and other facilities should flooded out First Nations be in need.
