It seems not everyone knows the significance of a big green flashing light in a car or truck. Those lights signal the driver is a volunteer firefighter who is responding to a call. Quinte West Fire Chief John Whalen says that on one recent call, a volunteer was surprised when an elderly man stopped at a traffic light, got out of his car and walked back to the firefighters car to warn him about problems with a flashing light. The Chief will provide a report on the feasability of signage to educate residents on the emergency signals.
