One of the partners in the so-far failed bid to get the horses running again in Belleville remains optimistic. President of the National Capital Region Harness Horsemen Association Ralph Moulton is hopeful a meeting this week with the OLG and Belleville officials will bring results. Moulton says Baymount needs to “raise 3 million bucks and payoff debentures that are held against the property and then away it goes”. He thinks the key players are in the meeting in the next few days to make that happen. Moulton still believes there will be harness racing at the old Quinte Ex this summer….adding, the ORC won’t be as stringent on necessary repairs to the grandstand if Baymount applies for nine races at a time. He concedes Baymount hasn’t moved as quickly as the horsemen would have liked but is confident they can still squeeze in an 18 race schedule.
