Prince Edward County is looking for senior government money to help rejuvenate and create more recreational facilities. Council authorized applications to the Recreation Infrastructure Canada in Ontario Program for funding for 3 projects. They include upgrades to the Prince Edward Community Center, construction of a concrete skateboard pad and other facilities for a Youth Park, and a baseball diamond in Wellington. The priority project is the Community Center in Picton, which Commissioner of Recreation Parks and Culture, Barry Braun, says is the busiest facility in Prince Edward. It’s estimated the work at the Community Center would cost 1.5 million dollars, and it’s hoped the Federal and Provincial governments will pay two thirds of that.
