Belleville Mayor Neil Ellis has expressed concern about a “dangerous” sidewalk situation posed by two outdoor rock concert events coming up at the Empire Theatre. Last night Mayor Ellis told City Council that “someone was nearly clipped by a car” when he had to walk on the street because the sidewalk at the Front Street site was blocked off last year. He says there will have to be a clear sidewalk or some security there. The noise bylaw exemption for the concert in July and an Anniversary Weekend event in September at the Empire was approved subject to some conditions.
