The Hastings-Prince Edward School Board will be asked to close Bancroft Public School in 2011 when it meets tonight. Senior Administration came up with that recommendation after the North Hastings Accomodation Review Committee spent a year studying the future of public schools in that area.
The Junior Kindergarten to Grade six students at Bancroft Public would move to North Hastings Senior Elementary School, creating a Junior Kindergarten to Grade Eight facility. The Committee agrees with the closure, and with moving the pupils to the Senior Elementary School, but it also wants to transfer the Grade seven and eight Senior Elementary students to the North Hastings High School.
