Stirling-Rawdon Township Council has approved a five-million-dollar budget, but the effect on taxes depends on what happened to your property assessment.
The budget, set at last night’s council meeting, includes the replacement of the Anson Road and Cook Road bridges, refurbishing the Henry Street ball park and other projects.
Treasurer Roxanne Hearn says Stirling residents with a 100-thousand dollar assessment will pay 1,592 dollars in taxes this year, down by 25 from last year. Rawdon property owners will have taxes of 1,522 dollars, down by 27 dollars from 2008.
The average property assessment in the township went up by eight per cent from last year.
