Hastings-Quinte social services officials are concerned about the future of a job-find program for welfare recipients.
The County of Hastings has delivered employment programs for the past 20-years. Last year it had the third highest percentage of welfare recipient earnings in the province. And last month the program filled 178-jobs, a 41-percent jump over the previous month. But there’s concern management of this program may be shifted to another agency since the province is undertaking an assessment of organizations eligible to deliver them. The Joint Social Services committee has decided to write to the province for clarification.
