Despite lots of warning, 280 charges were laid against local motorists during the Aggressive Driving Kills campaign.
Officers from Belleville and Stirling-Rawdon Township Police, and the O-P-P issued charges for speeding, seatbelt infractions, liquor offences, smoke free Ontario violations and A-T-V offences between May 13th and Victoria Day.
The spring campaign was under the umbrella of the recently-formed Quinte Region Traffic Coalition, which is aimed at preventing accidents on roads, trails and waterways.
