The Hastings-Quinte Joint Social Services Committee will look at ongoing problems of violent incidents in some affordable housing buildings in the Hastings -Quinte area. The incidents involve drug dealing and violence, particularly in an affordable housing building in Tweed. Acting housing manager Pam Murphy says the problem is not just the tenants, but also people visiting the building. Officials say part of the problem is that, in the nineties, the province lowered the age for designated seniors’ buildings to fifty….the committee will consider that issue as well.
