Centre Hastings residents on welfare or low income will soon have a Job Bus to get them to work sites in the Belleville area. The Hastings -Quinte Joint Social Services Committee has decided to release 25-thousand dollars it had in the reserve fund for the project. But Belleville Councillors Garnet Thompson and Bob Dolan voted against. Councillor Dolan says Belleville has it’s own jobless looking for work, and doesn’t need to help pay for busing others here. The non-profit organization, Centre Hastings Support Network, will launch the bus service, by July first.
