One or both projects already approved by Belleville City Council could now get funding from a new federal-provincial program.
Recreation, Culture and Community Services Director Mark Fluhrer says parking lot improvements, landscaping, and the construction of washrooms and changerooms at M-A Sills Park on Palmer Road would cost between 6-and-8-hundred thousand dollars.
There would be a similar price for constructing a new bandshell at West Zwick’s Park, with the Recreation, Infrastructure Canada Ontario Program paying two-thirds the cost of either project.
Fluhrer says City Council is committed to build both projects, but a decision will have to be made before the May 29th funding application deadline if Belleville is to get any financial assistance.
