A Quinte West Councillor is upset about the firing of four long-time municipal employees while he was away on holidays.
Terry Cassidy returned home to find out City Council had dismissed the workers, including Karen Sharpe, at a closed door meeting last week.
He told our newsroom he didn’t consider a decision on the Community and Leisures Department was such an emergency.
Cassidy says he thought a recommendation on the future of the Department, where the employees worked, could have waited until he at least had returned from his vacation.
