The Algonquin-Lakeshore Catholic School Board has honoured three local students and one teacher for their contributions to education.
Kathy O’Driscoll, a Grade 2-3 teacher at Saint Gregory School in Picton, was presented the 2009 Archbishop Francis J. Spence Teacher of the Year Award at a ceremony in Belleville today.
The board, which is celebrating Catholic Education Week, says O’Driscoll has an amazing ability to teach children, regardless of how they learn, and her lessons including reading, writing and listening, using visual and hands on learning.
Joseph Murphy, a Grade 12 student at Saint Paul Secondary School in Trenton was named Secondary Student Volunteer of the year, and Quinn Logan of Sacred Heart in Batawa, and Morgan Rivers of Saint Mary in Read, both Grade 8 students, are the Elementary Student Volunteers of the year.
